This place is so gorgeous. The land has a sacred feeling to it. It's surreal to be standing where Native Americans once lived, worked, and ate. Truly a magical place. Nice paths to walk on and lots of information provided on the trails
Really cool place to walk around and read about the history. There is some beautiful landscape to view as well.
Beautiful state park with interesting historical features. Get to learn about the early inhabitants that built the mounds and walls. If you're lucky, you can see some wildlife on the river. I saw a huge buck! Don't miss the Fawn Praire trail hidden on the south end of the park.
It's such a beautiful place. If you get the chance you should definitely check it out.
It is a very unique place. Not as big as I thought and not as high. Good markings explaining what all has happened there over time. Easy walking.
This was a fantastic stop. I highly encourage anyone that, beyond a great natural experience, is interested in the history associated with the site to make a trip. The informational signage is interesting and if you take the time to really absorb the history here it is a very fulfilling experience. Absolutely enjoyed the park in its entirety.
I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Bear in mind its VERY small, but the views and the history made for a wonderful quick hike with my kiddos! It won't take long but there's plenty of other things in the area that you can hit multiple stops for a fun day trip like we did.
The historical markers set up along the trails were informative and interesting. They did a good job of giving a basic understanding of the culture. The mounds and stockade were also interesting. The trails were well groomed and easy to follow. The landscape was gorgeous. The river was beautiful too. The only disappointing thing was that the museum was not open at this time.
